Another Weekend, Another Shattered Record For Ricky Flynn
BLACKSBURG, VA - Famed Hornet distance runner Gregg Cavaliere must be wondering if any of his records will survive the rest of Ricky Flynn's (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) career, as Flynn smashed another school record Saturday as the Hornet men's track squad competed at the VT Challenge, hosted by Virginia Tech.
Flynn, who broke the school's 5,000 meter time a weekend ago, this time took down the mile record as he ran a 4:14.25, which bests Cavaliere's time of 4:16.30.
Rich Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) ran the 800 meters in 1:59.23, while Pat Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) and brother Todd Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) were right behind with times of 1:59.88 and 1:59. 83, respectively.
Rashard Adams (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) also ran at the VT Challenge, posting a 23.40 in the 200 meter dash.
The Hornets will compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship meet Friday, hosted by Liberty University.
