       Ashley Meyer     BLACKSBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's team sent a few individuals to Virginia Tech Saturday to compete at the VT Challenge.

            Junior Ashley Meyer (pictured left - Springfield, MO/Glendale) nearly broke the 11-year-old school record in the mile, running a 5:16.85 Saturday. Melissa Beaver has the school record with a time of 5:16.26 set in 1998.

Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) finished the 800-meters in 2:23.06 to place her fourth on the all-time list in the event, and Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) ran a 5:40.33 in the mile.

Lynchburg will compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships this Friday at Liberty University.
