LC Women's Hoops Defeats Hollins 88-38

            LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's basketball team opened a 19-4 lead and never looked back in an 88-38 victory over Hollins University Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest in Turner Gymnasium. It is the final regular-season game for the Hornets.

            LC led 50-18 at the half and took advantage of 42 Hollins turnovers. Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names) and Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) each scored 17 points, hit three three-pointers and had five steals. Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA/Fort Defiance), Chevonne Booker (Richmond, VA/Thomas Jefferson) and Danielle Miller (Sterling, VA/Westfield) each netted nine points and Tamara Snead (Richmond, VA/Henrico) posted seven points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

            Tamara Phillips scored 17 points for Hollins (0-25/0-20 ODAC), connecting on two four-point plays in the second half. Emily Long had 10 of her 12 points in the first half before fouling out.

            The Hornets (9-16/7-13 ODAC) will compete Thursday in the ODAC Championship Tournament, with the seedings and game times to be released later this weekend.
