Hornet Riding Finishes Third at Bridgewater Horse Show
BRIDGEWATER, VA - The Lynchburg College equestrian team finished third at the Bridgewater College Horse Show last Saturday afternoon in the LC riding team's third show of the spring.
Freshman Kelly Gerland (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) shined for LC, as she was the top medalist in both the intermediate fences and novice flat. Gerland was also honored as the high point rider for the show.
The Hornets went one-two-three in the novice fences as Caitlin Flathers (Rixeyville, VA/Home School) took home top honors, and Katie Bremen (Saint James, NY/Smithtown) and Jamie Carille (Virginia Beach, VA/Frank W. Cox) were second and third, respectively.
Sophomore Charlotte Harris (Middleburg, VA/Madeira) finished in sixth place in open fences, while Jordan Rooney (Wyckoff, NY/Ramapo) was fifth in open flat. Carille also competed in the novice flat, finishing in third place, while Taylor Fellows (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) earned fourth place in intermediate flat.
Sarah Ridgeway (Locust Dale, VA/Orange County) was a winner for LC in the advanced walk-trot-canter, with junior teammate Mallory Williams (Newport News, VA) took home fifth place in the walk-trot event.
The Hornets on horses will travel to Hollins University this Saturday afternoon.
