Fresh on the heels of a Hornet record in the 5,000-meter run, junior Ricky Flynn became the Lynchburg College all-time record holder in the mile Saturday at the VT Challenge, hosted by Virginia Tech.

Flynn, who broke the school's 5,000-meter record a weekend ago, this time took down the mile record as he ran a 4:14.25, which bests the previous Hornet record of 4:16.30 held by Gregg Caviliere '93.

Flynn finished first in the 5,000-meter run at the Boston University Valentines Invitational, posting a time of 14.28.98, besting the 16-year old record of 14:41 also held by Caviliere. Flynn now holds the best time in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) this season in that event, while his finish was also the third-fastest in Division III this year.

The Hornets will compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship meet Friday, hosted by Liberty University.
