The Hornets went 11-4 in 2002 and improved from their eight-win season in 2001. The squad went 4-2 in ODAC action. After losing their first match to Ohio Wesleyan, the squad rattled off seven consecutive wins and won four of their last six matches. The team was 7-1 on Shellenberger Field, outscored its opponents 207-142, and won 11 of 12 games when ahead at the intermission. Kevin Reinecke (pictured left) led the Hornets in scoring, with 42 goals and eight assists for 50 points. Brandon Childs led the team in points with 56 (25g, 31a). His team-high 31 assists places him seventh in program history. Jon Gilden scooped up 116 groundballs, which is good enough for eighth in school history for that category.

From Chris Johnson 2004 Grad
Our Man down unit that year was pretty good and we had a lot of fun in practice during man up / man down. However my own Defense turned on me in the middle of the Widner game because I let in what they thought was a "soft" man down goal, our first man down goal allowed of that year. Even though the score was like 10-3 at the time, the D (Lead by David Kaye) first scolded me then refused to talk to me during any stoppage in play for the rest of the game. The Widner attack was confused to say the least

2002 Season: I will remember playing at Fairfax High School, beating a tough Franklin & Marshall team, and treating the NOVA lax community to a great game. Kip Campbell scored the game winner in overtime!
