Squeaks by LC Men's Basketball 58-55

LEXINGTON, VA - The Washington & Lee University men's basketball team squeaked by the Lynchburg College men's basketball team 58-55 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest on Wednesday night.

LC went into the half down 35-26, but they opened up the half on a 14-5 run to tie the game at 40-40 with 14:55 remaining in the contest. Lynchburg then went on to take a one-point lead, 51-50, with 7:40 left and led by one again, 55-54, with just 2:20 time left in the game. The Hornets, however, would not score for the remainder of the contest as the Generals converted two of four attempts from the free throw line and added a jumper to secure the victory. The Hornets had an opportunity to tie the game or take the lead with 15 seconds left but missed two shots.

Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) had game highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 8-11 from the field. Jack Burgess (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) posted eight points and six rebounds while Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) contributed with six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Kyle Bond was the only W&L player in double figures with 10 points and Ben Heller added nine points and eight rebounds. The Hornets outrebounded the Generals 40-32 and each team shot 41%. W&L was shaky from the charity stripe, converting just 11 of 23 attempts but held a critical 16-8 advantage in turnovers.
