Lynchburg College will host an information session on Tuesday, February 17, for prospective graduate students interested in the new Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The session will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the College's Alumni House Lounge.
Lynchburg College will launch the new program in the fall of 2010 in partnership with Centra.
The information session will provide an opportunity for prospective students to learn about the program and meet with faculty for preliminary advising. Information on financial aid will also be available.
The new three-year program will start with basic science courses such as biology, chemistry, and physics and then introduce specialized courses, including biomechanics, neuroanatomy, human growth and development, manifestations of disease, examination techniques, and therapeutic procedures. In addition to classroom and laboratory instruction, students will receive supervised clinical experience.
Applicants for the program must have a bachelor's degree. Undergraduate courses that are useful when applying to the physical therapist education program include anatomy, biology, chemistry, social science, mathematics, and physics.
