Lynchburg Sweeps ODAC Track Athlete of the Week Awards

            SALEM, VA - Lynchburg College swept the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Awards for the week of February 9.

            Senior Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) continued to shine on the track as he earned the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Award.  Saturday at the Susquehanna University Invitational, he clocked a 6.50 in the 55-meter finals, which is the third-best time in Lynchburg indoor history.  Edwards also ran with Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage), Thomas Clark (Alexandria, VA/TC Williams) and Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/EC Glass) to set the LC record in the 4x200 meter relay. Edwards also placed second in the long jump, hopping 6.47 meters.

      Sophomore sprinter Daphne Desrosiers (Pembroke Pines, FL/Killingly) took home the weekly women's award as she set the school record in the 55-meter dash Saturday at Susquehanna, finishing in 7.48. She joined the 4x200 meter relay team of Kyra Richardson (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian), Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson) and Christina Washington (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) that broke another broke the school record in 1:49.31 to win the meet. Desrosiers capped the event by running a 27.46 in the 200-meter dash to place sixth.

Both teams will compete Friday at the University of North Carolina.
