Track Men Ranked In Latest USTFCCCA Poll

Brandon Edwards has helped LC to a No. 15 National ranking.            LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College indoor men's track and field team has received some national recognition, as the men's tracksters are currently No. 15 in the nation according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, released recently.

The Hornet men have had some successful meets already this season, including the Liberty Open and this past weekend's pair of meets at George Mason University and East Tennessee State University.

Senior Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) is currently the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leader in the 60 meter dash, posting a 6.99 at the LU meet. Edwards also posted the top time in the 200 meter jaunt, clocking a 22.78, while teammate Sam Steike (The Woodlands, TX/Amer. Sch. Of Dubai) tops the 400 meter dash ODAC list.

Freshman James Bell (Huddleston, VA/Staunton River) has performed well in his first few meets, and currently sits atop the performance lists in both the pole vault and high jump. LC is the South region's top represenative in the poll, as Christopher Newport University and Emory University also are mentioned.

The Lynchburg women's team also garnered attention, as they were marked No. 26 according to the same governing body.

Both teams will travel to Susquehanna University and the Virginia Military Institute Relays this weekend.
