Spring Season Features Several Ranked Hornet Teams

LYNCHBURG, VA - If pre-season predictions have merit, this spring could be a record-breaking campaign for the athletic teams of Lynchburg College.

The Hornet softball team is ranked eighth in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association pre-season poll.  Lynchburg won its second-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title last spring and advanced into the eight-team NCAA Tournament Finals for the first time in program history.  LC opens the season at home Saturday, February 21 against Meredith College at 1 p.m.

The Lynchburg men's lacrosse team is ranked in the top 10 in two different pre-season polls: earning the sixth position in Lacrosse Magazine and #10 in Inside Lacrosse. LC won its third conference title in six seasons in 2008 and advanced into the NCAA Division III Tournament.  The Hornets also begin play at home February 21 - hosting defending national champion Salisbury University at 1 p.m.

The LC baseball squad is ranked #14 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Poll. The Hornets, fresh off their first NCAA Tournament regional appearance since 1983, begin play February 7 at Greensboro College.
