Lynchburg College Men's Track Runs at Liberty University

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College men's indoor track and field team competed at the 2009 Liberty Open, hosted by Liberty University in the Tolsma Indoor Track complex.
Senior Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) finished third in the 60 meter dash, running the final in 6.99. In the 200 meter dash, Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) finished fifth with a time of 23.12, while teammate Mark Chauteh (Falls Church, VA/Bishop O'Connell) ran a 23.55 for 10th place.
Sophomore Todd Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) finished third in the 1000 meter run, trekking the distance in 2:37.26. Freshman Lawrence Minor (Mineral, VA/Louisa) took down fifth place in the mile run, clocking a time of 4:32.01. In the 3000 meter run, Ryan Van Alstine (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) placed fifth with a booking of 8:52.06.
Freshman James Bell (Huddleston, VA/Staunton River) took third in the pole vault, clearing 4.50 meters, and teammate Thomas Clark (Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams) placed fifth clearing 4.35 meters. Senior Kyle Edwards (Tolland, CT/Loomis Chaffee) finished ninth in the weight throw, hurling the weight 13.78 meters.
Lynchburg competes at the East Tennessee State Invitational next Friday and Saturday in Johnson City, TN.
