The 1981 season saw LC go 4-1 in pre-season but just 5-10 in the regular campaign. The Hornets played four ranked teams: Salisbury (#3), Washington College (#4), Roanoke (#5) and Ohio Wesleyan (#6). Sam McGann led LC in points with 44 (14G, 30A) while Warner topped the Hornets with 21 goals. McGann earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors.
