Randolph-Macon Upends LC Women 76-62
LYNCHBURG, VA - Yellow Jacket freshman Maggie Roy didn't miss from the floor as the Randolph-Macon College women's basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 76-62 Tuesday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
The Hornets had leads of 19-14 and 24-21 (with 6:34 left) in the first half, but R-MC closed out the stanza with a 14-0 run to hold a 35-24 edge at intermission. The Yellow Jackets scored the first basket of the second half and led by double figures the rest of the way.
Junior Brittany Dahn (Richmond, VA/Deep Run) tallied 16 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four steals for LC. Dana Esposito (New Port Richie, FL/Holy Names) had 16 points, and freshman Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) posted eight points and four rebounds.
Roy poured in 20 points, hitting all three of her three-point attempts and all four two-point field goals. Molly Ariail tallied 17 points and seven rebounds and Katie Williams and Amanda Hiltunen each had 10 points. Randolph-Macon shot 46 percent from the floor for the game (28-61) and held LC to just 32 percent (23-71).
The Hornets (7-9/5-6 ODAC) travel to Eastern Mennonite University Saturday for another ODAC game at 4 p.m.
