Four Hornets Selected for All-Region Women's Soccer Team

LYNCHBURG, VA - Four Lynchburg College student-athletes were recently honored as the 2008 NSCAA/Adidas NCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-South Region Team was released.

Junior Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) and sophomore Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) landed on the first team.  Ashley Hoath, a third team All-American and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year, had 18 goals, including six game-winners, and three assists for 39 points from her midfield position. Kwiatkowski had 18 goals and 18 assists this year for 54 points.  She was an All-ODAC first team selection for the second-straight season. Ashley Hoath and Kwiatkowski shared All-State College Division Player of the Year honors, announced last week.

Junior Katelyn LeRiche (Guilford, CT/Guilford) and freshman Beverly Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon), both defenders, earned spots on the all-region third team.  LeRiche earned first-team All-ODAC accolades, while Beverly Hoath was named the conference and state's rookie of the year. The two were the backbone of a stout Hornet defense that allowed just 11 goals in 25 matches.

Lynchburg finished the season 21-1-3, captured the ODAC title, and advanced into the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
