Lynchburg Dominates College Women's Soccer All-State Team

FERRUM, VA - Fresh off an NCAA Div. III Tournament Sweet 16 appearance, Lynchburg College dominated the major awards on the 2008 College Division Women's Soccer All-State Team, as selected by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Teammates Betsy Kwiatkowski and Ashley Hoath shared Player of the Year honors, Beverly Hoath was named Rookie of the Year, and Dr. Todd Olson earned Coach of the Year.

A sophomore forward from Mount Jackson, VA, Kwiatkowski had 18 goals and 18 assists this year for 54 points. She was an All-ODAC first team selection for the second straight season. Kwiatkowski was last year's VaSID Rookie of the Year. A junior midfielder from Alexandria, VA, Ashley Hoath had 18 goals, including six game-winners, and three assists for 39 points. Hoath was an All-ODAC first team selection and the 2008 ODAC Player of the Year. Earlier this week, Hoath was named to the NSCAA's All-America third team.

A freshman defender from Alexandria, VA, and sister of Ashley, Beverly Hoath was an All-ODAC first team selection and the 2008 ODAC Rookie of the Year. Olson guided Lynchburg to a 21-1-3 overall record this season and was named ODAC Coach of the Year. His team won the ODAC title and advanced as far as the round of 16 at the 2008 NCAA Division III Tournament, the Hornets' second consecutive Sweet 16 appearance. Olson shared last year's VaSID Coach of the Year honor.

Sophomore forward Katie Santos was named to the second-team squad after leading the Hornets and the ODAC in goals with 24 and was selected second-team All-ODAC this fall.
