Hornet Athletic Program Ranks 31st in Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, OH - The Lynchburg College athletic program currently ranks 31st overall in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, the all-sports trophy for Division III athletics.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the
National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's. Six of the seven fall NCAA championships have been completed.

The Hornets earned 64 points in women's soccer for their NCAA Division III Tournament Sweet 16 run, and 53 points in field hockey, which advanced to the final 16 as well. No other Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) school ranked in the top 40. Both the LC women's soccer and field hockey teams won their respective ODAC titles this fall.

Williams (Mass.) has the lead with 326 points, with Messiah (Pa.) in second, trailing Williams by 32 points. Cortland State (NY) is in a close third with 283 points.
