LC Women's Indoor Track Opens Season at CNU

            NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Lynchburg College women's indoor track and field team opened its 2008-09 season Saturday by traveling across the state to compete in the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open.

            Freshman Christina Washington (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) opened her collegiate career in impressive fashion, finishing the 200-meter dash in 27.71 and the 400 in 61.65.  Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson) recorded times of 27.77 and 63.29 in the same two events, while Amanda Johnston (Middletown, NJ/Caravel Academy) finished the 600 in 1:49.61. Daphne Desrosiers (Pembroke Pines, FL/Killingly) and Kyra Richardson (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) ran times of 7.60 and 7.65 respectively in the 55-meter dash and Deana Crews (Meadows of Dan, VA/Patrick County) had a personal record of two feet in the weight throw, recording a heave of 11.75 meters.

            The Hornets return to action January 16-17, when they are scheduled to compete both at Virginia Tech and at Washington & Lee.
