Box score

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Roanoke College men's basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 76-57 Saturday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

The Maroons opened a 13-2 lead in the first five minutes, but LC didn't let the game get out of hand, closing to within seven just before the half. But Roanoke's Drew Gaeng drilled a three-pointer to give RC a 42-32 edge heading into intermission. After a traditional three-point play from junior center Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) cut the lead to 44-35 early in the second half, the Maroons quickly answered back and led by double digits the rest of the way.

Junior swingman KC Mendez (San Antonio, TX/Winston Churchill) and junior guard Brad Puffenbarger (Blue Grass, VA/Highland) led the Hornets with 15 points each. Puffenbarger nailed three of his four three-point attempts and added three steals. Wooldridge posted 11 points, a game-high seven boards with three assists and three steals.

Curtis Peery paced a balanced Maroon scoring attack with 14 points. Zach Milton added 13 and Corey Poindexter contributed 11 points and five assists. Raonoke improves to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in ODAC play.

The Hornets (1-5/1-2 ODAC) are off until Thursday, December 18, traveling to Ferrum College for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
