Kylie Lucas Scores Career High 21 Points in 97-87 Loss to Randolph-Macon

LC Box Score vs. R-MC

ASHLAND, VA - Despite a career-high 21 points from sophomore Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA/Fort Defiance), the Lynchburg College women's basketball team lost its third straight contest Monday night. The Hornets dropped a 97-87 decision to the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action from Crenshaw Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets (3-1/1-1 ODAC) jumped out on top early, and held the lead for the entire game. Randolph-Macon led by as much as 19 in the first half, but the Hornets (1-4/0-2 ODAC) would chip into the lead, eventually taking a 13-point deficit into the break with a score of 51-38.

After the intermission, the Hornets continued to cut into the R-MC bulge and with 6:02 left in the game a Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) layup made the score 82-78. Randolph-Macon responded though with a 7-0 run over the next 1:27 to put the game away.

The Hornets were paced by Lucas, who earned her career-high point total on 8-12 shooting, also grabbing a career-high and a team best 13 boards. Dahn finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds for LC, while Dana Esposito (New Port Richey, FL/Holy Names) chipped in with 11 points and three steals.

The hosts were led by Amanda Hiltunen and her game-highs of 29 points and 10 assists. Molly Ariail was 9-19 from the floor for 23 points, and Katie Williams and Renee Stein each topped double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Hornets outshot Randolph-Macon from the floor, 52 percent to 46 percent, but 25 turnovers by Lynchburg and the Yellow Jackets sinking 31 of 39 shots from the charity stripe doomed LC.

Lynchburg (1-4/0-2 ODAC) will entertain the Wasps of Emory & Henry College Friday night at 7 p.m. in Turner Gymnasium for more conference play.
