Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA - Lynchburg College first-year coach Hilliary Scott earned his first collegiate head coaching win Tuesday as the Hornets rallied for a 72-66 win over Randolph College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.

Randolph opened a 20-8 lead with eight minutes left in the half, but LC used a 19-10 run to enter intermission just down one point.  LC took its first lead of the game at 42-41 after a three-pointer from Eric Burnett (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) with 12 minutes left. The WildCats quickly took the advantage back, but Lynchburg led the rest of the way after the 10:30 mark. The Hornets opened a six-point edge following a Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) layup with 48 seconds on the game clock, and LC sealed the game by netting its last nine points from the free throw line.

Wooldridge finished with game highs of 21 points and nine rebounds in just 24 minutes of play.  Junior Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) contributed 14 points, three assists and three steals, and Danny Reed (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) also reached double figures with 12 points, and added eight boards and three assists. Burnett tallied nine points, six boards and three steals.

Timothy Clarke was 12-12 from the charity stripe to pace Randolph (1-4/0-1 ODAC) with 18 points, and added seven assists and five rebounds. Pete Hamilton had 15 points and six caroms.

The Hornets (1-2/1-0 ODAC) are off until after Thanksgiving weekend, traveling to Methodist University for a non-conference game Monday at 7 p.m.
