Hockey's Allie Weir Continues to Rack Up Postseason Accolades
Longstreth/NFHCA All-American List
Jack and Jill All-American List
CHANDLER, AZ - The postseason awards continued for LC field hockey's Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River), as the junior attack was honored as a third team All-American Monday as voted on by the nation's coaches.
Weir was honored as an All-American for her first time in her career by Longstreth and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, after she led the country in Division-III with 35 goals and was second with 75 points. She was also second in goals in all of NCAA, trailing only Jamie Vanartsdalen of Division-II's Bloomsburg University. Weir was also honored recently by Jack and Jill Field Hockey as a second team All American, after garnering third team honors as a freshman and sophomore.
Weir helped LC to a 18-6 overall record this season, contributing in Lynchburg capturing its third consecutive ODAC title and fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Weir scored in all by four games this season, and was the cornerstone of a Hornets scoring offense that ranked seventh in the nation with 3.77 goals per game.
She took home Co-ODAC Player of the Year honored earlier this month, while also earning first-team All-ODAC for the third straight season. Weir is only five points behind Phebe Phelps as the crown for Lynchburg's all-time point getter, while trailing Phelps by five goals on the career list. Weir is only 20 goals behind the NCAA Division-I record of 120 goals held by Priscilla Wilde, a mark that has stood since the conclusion of the 1976 season.
