Five Hornets Honored on Men's Soccer All-ODAC Team

SALEM, VA - Five Hornets were honored Tuesday with the release of the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Soccer Team. Virginia Wesleyan College's Brandon Massie took home conference player of the year honors, while Scott Allison of Roanoke College was named the ODAC Coach of the Year.

Lynchburg's Pat Brown (Williamsburg, VA/Christchurch) and Hunter Smith (Goode, VA/Jefferson Forest) were both honored on the first-team. Brown, a junior defender/midfielder, was second on the team in scoring. He had seven goals, three assists for 17 points and was a first-team selection last season. Smith anchored a Hornet defense that allowed just 14 goals all season. The sophomore played in 17 games, all starts, and scored two goals with one assist.

Junior Josh Reed (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) earned second-team honors after receiving an honorable mention in 2007. He led the team in scoring from his midfield position, netting 11 goals with nine assists. Junior Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) earned honorable mention All-ODAC accolades. He started all 20 games in net, making 77 saves for an 87.5 save percentage and a 0.56 goals-against average.

LC senior Matt Dunnum (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) was the Hornets' representative on the sportsmanship team. LC finished the season 14-2-4 and 7-0-3 in conference play.
