Two Hornet Hockey Players Earn All-Region Honors

LYNCHBURG, VA - Junior attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) was selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) first-team All-Region squad, while teammate Signey Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) earned second-team accolades.

Weir finished the season tops in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in points (75) and goals scored (35) for the third consecutive year.  She scored two or more goals nine times including a pair of four-goal outings and two other three-goal days. Her 75 points mark the fourth-highest single-season total in ODAC history.

She owns the top rank with 82 points in 2007. Weir's 100 goals and 222 points currently stand third in ODAC history. Weir was named the Co-ODAC Player of the Year this season, after garnering ODAC First-Team in 2007 and 2008.

Milks was a second-team honoree this year after being named to the ODAC first-team the past two seasons. This campaign, Milks contributed two goals and nine assists for LC, as it led the ODAC in scoring offense.

Lynchburg finished its season Saturday with a 3-2 loss to Ursinus College in the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament Second Round. LC posted an 18-6 record on the year, capturing its third consecutive conference title.
