LC Box Score vs. Elizabethtown

ASHLAND, VA - Sophomore Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA/Fort Defiance) poured in a game-high 16 points in leading the Lynchburg College women's basketball team to its first win of the 2008-09 season with a 67-49 victory over Elizabethtown College in day two of the Randolph-Macon Tip-Off Classic held in Ashland, VA.

LC (1-1) fell behind early, but quickly responded to tie the score at six at the 15:59 mark of the first half. Junior Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names) put the Hornets up for good with a jumper at the 15:13 spot of the first stanza. LC went into the break up 13 points thanks to a six-zero spurt over the last 2:31 of the half.

After intermission, E-Town closed the lead to six thanks to a jumper by Jenn Montague, but LC went on a subsequent 8-0 run to put things out of reach for the Blue Jays (0-2).

Lucas compiled her 16 points on 5-12 shooting, hitting on six of her eight charity stripe attempts. Junior Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen,VA/Deep Run) and Darby each finished with nine points, while freshman Carly Greenlief (Centreville, VA/Westfield) chipped in with eight points, nailing all six free-throw attempts she took.

Junior Tamara Snead (Richmond, VA/Henrico) was two of four from the field for six points, while grabbing a team-high night caroms. Elizabethtown was led by Courtney Kofeldt and her 14 points and eight rebounds, while Megan Quinn posted a double-double of 10 points and 13 boards. Montague ended with nine points, 11 rebounds and three steals for the Blue Jays.

Lynchburg shot 33.9 percent on the afternoon, and forced E-Town into a 25.8 percent field goal clip. The Hornets failed to hit a three-pointer today, which marked the first time in 29 games LC did not nail a trifecta. Lucas was named to the All-Tournament Team.

LC returns to action this Friday as it will host the Captains of Christopher Newport University in non-conference action from Turner Gym at 7 p.m.
