LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College field hockey team, winner of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament Saturday, will host a first-round NCAA Tournament contest against the Tigers of Sewanee: The University of the South Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.

Ticket prices for the NCAA contest with Sewanee will be five dollars for adults and three dollars for students from the participating schools. Lynchburg College students will be admitted for free with a current, valid student ID.

The Hornets and Sewanee are no strangers to each other, as the two squads battled back on Oct. 19, with LC taking a 3-0 victory. Sewanee earned its postseason berth thanks to a 1-0 victory over Centre College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) tournament final. The Tigers are riding an eight-game winning streak, while LC boasts nine straight wins.

The NCAA appearance is the Hornets fourth straight, and the ninth under the direction of head coach Enza Steele. Last season, the Hornets defeated Centre College 5-0 in the first round, before falling to Lebanon Valley College 2-1 in the second round.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will travel to Collegeville, PA Saturday to take on Ursinus College at 11 a.m. The winner of that game will play Sunday at 1 p.m. against the last team standing of Salisbury University, Castleton College and Cortland State.
