Savannah Tinsley Posts 41 Digs - Two Short of Single Match School Record

ROANOKE, VA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team, seeded seventh in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament, upset second seeded Randolph-Macon College 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

The Yellow Jackets looked poised to advance to the semi-finals after winning the first set in convincing manner, defeating the Hornets 25-17. LC showed no quit in them, winning the next set by three, 25-22. LC squeezed out another tightly contested set, winning the third set 26-24. The Hornets claimed victory by closing out the fourth set strong with a 25-22 win.

Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/EC Glass) posted three service aces and an astounding 41 digs - just two short of the LC single match record of 43 held by current assistant coach Corri Pfister. The 41 digs places her eighth all-time in the ODAC record book for single match digs. Kristina Giordano (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) dished out 39 assists, her second-highest total in a four-set match, along with three service aces. Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock) tallied 11 kills and 12 digs while Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monocan) collected eight kills and 10 digs. Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk) hit 12 kills and also recorded two blocks while Jasmine Murphy (Shipman, VA/Nelson County) added 10 digs.

The Hornets (15-15) play Saturday at 11 a.m. in the semi-finals against the winner of #6 Emory & Henry vs. #3 Virginia Wesleyan. The winner of the semi-final matchup will advance to the ODAC Championship game to be played at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
