Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA - Sophomore forward Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) scored an early goal, and second-seeded Lynchburg College held on for a 1-0 win over Washington & Lee University Wednesday afternoon in a semi-final matchup of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

A collision 15 yards from the net resulted in a General defender hitting the turf and the keeper being out of the cage, and Kwiatkowski footed the ball into the empty net.  Both teams had scoring chances before the break, but the Hornets held onto the 1-0 lead until halftime.  The Generals put the pressure on after intermission, but the LC defense held stout, and Hornet goalie Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) made a save in the closing seconds to seal the game.

Lynchburg (18-0-3) out-shot Washington & Lee 13-9 and each team was awarded five corner kicks. Kiki Moreo made three stops for W&L (13-5), while Bader made five saves.

The Hornets await the winner of tonight's Roanoke College/Virginia Wesleyan College semi-final matchup.  If the top-seeded Marlins win, LC will travel to Virginia Beach Saturday for the ODAC Title Game, but if the #4 Maroons emerge victorious, the Hornets will host the championship game.
