Hornet Women's Soccer Upends Randolph-Macon 7-0

            LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Randolph-Macon College 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Saturday afternoon. The second-seeded Hornets will host #3 Washington & Lee University (a 6-0 winner over Guilford College today) in semifinal play next week.

            Freshman midfielder Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) broke a scoreless tie 19 minutes into the game with an unassisted goal.  Sophomore forward Katie Santos (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop Ireton) followed with two goals in a two-minute span, assisted by Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) and Joanie Snyder (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air).   

            The Hornets opened up a commanding lead in the second half with four scores. Cecilia Moore (Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson) and Brittany Johnson (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) tallied unassisted goals and Colleen Frickie (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) scored twice in the closing minutes off Dani Crotty (Mason, OH/Mason) corner kicks.

            The Hornets (17-0-3), ranked third in NCAA Division III this week, out-shot Randolph-Macon 41-1 and held a 12-0 edge in corner kicks. Randolph-Macon ends the season 9-9.
