Lynchburg Men Hoopsters Picked 10th in ODAC Preseason Poll
SALEM, VA - The Lynchburg College men's basketball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Hilliary Scott, was slotted 10th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) poll Thursday, as announced at the annual preseason media day held at the Salem Civic Center, hosted by the Salem Rotary Club.
The Hornets, who garnered 30 total votes, return five of their top seven scorers from a season ago. Notable returners for the Lynchburg cagers include junior Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) and Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle).
Wooldridge was a first-team All-ODAC performer last season, averaging 19.0 points and just over eight boards a game. Echols returned to the Hornet backcourt for the second semester last year after an honorable mention All-ODAC campaign as a freshman. In his 17 games played, he averaged 9.2 points and 3.7 rebounds a game, while leading LC with 28 steals on the year.
Randolph-Macon College was tabbed as the league favorite, garnering 119 votes and 10 first place nods. Virginia Wesleyan was second with 110 points, earning the last first place vote, while Guilford College rounded out the top three with 88 poll points. The rest of the poll is located below.
Lynchburg College begins its season November 21 at the Mt. St. Joseph Tournament in Cincinnati, OH against the host Lions at 7 p.m.
