Lynchburg Men's Soccer Battles Roanoke to 1-1 2OT Tie

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College men's soccer team battled Roanoke College to a 1-1 double overtime tie Saturday night.

The game was a back and forth contest as each team had numerous chances to score. Chris Collins put Roanoke (11-3-2/7-1-1 ODAC) on the board 65:41 into the contest off a pass from Shaman Douglass. Donald Hart III (Springfield, VA/Paul VI) posted the tying goal with less than six minutes in regulation off a Jared Melot (Reading, PA/Antietam) cross. Lynchburg had several chances to score in the final minute, including a Matt Dunnum (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) header on an open net but a Roanoke player came over to head it out.

LC (11-2-3/4-0-3 ODAC) outshot the Maroons 19-15 and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks. Adam Thompson recorded seven saves in net for the Maroons while Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel) posted six saves.

Lynchburg (15-0-3/8-0-2 ODAC) completes the regular season Wednesday at Randolph-Macon College at 4 p.m.
