Lynchburg Men Take ODAC Lead with 2-0 Win at Randolph

            LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeated Randolph College 2-0 Tuesday to take the top spot in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings.

            Junior keeper Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) turned away a great WildCat scoring opportunity in the opening minutes, and sophomore Donald Hart III (Springfield, VA/Paul VI) headed in a throw-in from Zach Ward (Haymarket, VA/Battlefield) midway through the first half to give the Hornets a 1-0 edge.  Cameron Smith (Goode, VA/Jefferson Forest) scored on anther header at the 58:13 mark, this time from a Jared Melot (Reading, PA/Antietam) corner kick.

            The Hornets outshot Randolph 16-9 and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Sturdivant and Randolph goalie Aaron Humphries each made five saves. The WildCats fall to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

            Lynchburg (12-2-2/6-0-2 ODAC) hosts Roanoke College (6-1 ODAC) Saturday at 7 p.m. for the Hornets' Senior Night.  The Maroons face Guilford College Wednesday before the first-place showdown.
