LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s soccer team scored twice in the first nine minutes of the game and never looked back in an important 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over visiting Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday evening.

Senior Jared Melot (Reading, PA/Antietam) started the scoring 6:21 into the contest, finding the back of the net off a free kick.  Cameron Smith (Goode, VA/Jefferson Forest) buried a cross from Robert Lee Green (Bumpass, VA/Louisa County) two minutes later and LC held the 2-0 edge until after intermission. Pat Brown (Williamsburg, VA/Christchurch) headed in a crossing pass from Melot on a corner kick for an insurance goal in the 60th minute.

Lynchburg out-shot Virginia Wesleyan 16-9, while each team had four corner kick opportunities. Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) made four saves to record his fifth shutout of the season. Ryan Zmuda made two stops for Virginia Wesleyan.
