No. 3 Hornet Women Shoot Down Eagles 7-0 in ODAC Play

Brittany Klippstein scored twice for LC Saturday vs. BC.                BRIDGEWATER, VA – The No. 3-ranked Lynchburg College women’s soccer team scored five first-half goals and never looked back as the Hornets defeated Bridgewater College 7-0 Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

                Sophomore striker Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) gave LC an early 1-0 lead, as she scored just 1:42 into the contest with help from junior Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon). Sophomore Katie Santos (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop Ireton) notched her 14th goal of the season at 17:10, followed six minutes later by a Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) score to make the count 3-0.

                LC got goals from Lindsey Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon) and Ashley Hoath before the half to take a 5-0 lead into the intermission. Klippstein scored her second of the day at the 63:49 mark of the match, and Amy Krause (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge) finished the Hornets tallying with a penalty kick goal at 87:55.

                Sophomore Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) made two saves in net for the Hornets, as she combined with Anna Wright (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) for the shutout. LC outshot the Eagles 26-3, also out earning the hosts in the corner kick category, 3-1.

                Lynchburg will entertain the Vixens of Sweet Briar College for more ODAC play Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
