LC Box Score vs. E&H

Katie Santos notched her first career hat trick Wednesday night.                LYNCHBURG, VA – Sophomore Katie Santos (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop Ireton) and junior Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) each notched a hat trick and an assist Wednesday night as the No. 3-ranked Lynchburg College women’s soccer team breezed by Emory & Henry College 9-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play from Shellenberger Field.

The Hornets (12-0-3/5-0-2 ODAC) jumped out of the gate early scoring three goals in the first 10:15 of the match. Hoath scored her first at 4:40 with help from Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson. Nearly five minutes later, Kwiatkowski scored a goal of her own as she corralled her own shot that hit a post and put it past the Wasp keeper. Lindsay Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon) scored her third goal of the year at 10:15 on a nice pass from Cecilia Moore (Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson) to make the score 3-0.

LC would get two goals from Santos and another from Hoath to enter halftime with a 6-0 lead. After the intermission, Hoath got her hat trick at the 57:46 mark of the game with an assist from Santos. Kwiatkowski tallied her second goal of the contest at 67:03, and Santos ended the match’s scoring with a goal from Moore 68:39 into the game.

Moore finished with two assists, while Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield), Jess Mader (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and Gengras also helped out on a score. Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) and Julia Watson (Edgewater, MD/South River) combined for the clean sheet, while EHC (10-5/3-4 ODAC) goalie Hayley Poland made 10 saves.

Lynchburg outshot the Wasps 33-4, earning two corner kicks to Emory & Henry’s one. LC was also charged with 10 offsides calls, by far the most by LC in a match this season.

LC will hit the road this weekend, as it travels to Bridgewater College for a Saturday noon tussle with the Eagles.
