LC Men’s Soccer Defeats E&H 3-1
LYNCHBURG, VA – Junior Pat Brown (Williamsburg, VA/Christchurch) scored two goals in the first half to lead the Lynchburg College men’s soccer team to a 3-1 win over visiting Bridgewater College Saturday over Homecoming Weekend.
Brown scored his first goal at 10:15, heading in a corner kick from Jared Melot (Reading, PA/Antietam), and the second tally was almost identical 25 minutes later from Josh Reed’s (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) corner kick. Reed netted a penalty-kick goal at the 53:25 mark and Chris Thomas of Bridgewater returned the favor with a penalty kick goal with six minutes left in the game to complete the scoring.
LC outshot the Eagles 29-8 and held an 11-4 edge in corner kicks. Zane Lineberry made seven stops for Bridgewater (4-6-3/0-3-2 ODAC), while Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel) made four saves in 67 scoreless minutes in net.
The Hornets (9-2-2/4-0-2 ODAC) hosts Methodist University Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
