LC Box Score at Guilford

GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College men’s soccer team and Guilford College battled through 110 minutes, but neither team could net a goal as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest ended in a scoreless 0-0 tie.

The Hornets (7-2-1/2-0-1 ODAC) and Quakers (1-7-1/1-2-1 ODAC) each struggled to get into the offense in the first half, combining for only nine total shots in the first stanza. The best scoring chance of the half went to LC, as Jordan Clark (Richmond, VA/Monacan) nailed the crossbar with nine minutes to play in the half.

In the second frame, Lynchburg came out firing, outshooting the Quakers 10-5 in the half. Guilford goalkeeper Peter Truitt was stellar in net, making six saves in the period to keep the game scoreless.

For the match, LC outshot Guilford 19-12 while holding a slight 8-6 edge in corner kicks. Lynchburg goalkeeper Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel) finished the contest with eight saves, while Truitt stopped nine shots, also getting the benefit of three team saves. Josh Reed (Newark, DE/Caravel) and Cam Smith (Goode, VA/Jefferson Forest) led the Hornet attack with three shots, while Jordan Alexander and Hugh Griffis each shot four times for GC.

The Hornets return home for the weekend, as they entertain the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney for a pivotal ODAC matchup on Shellenberger Field at 7 p.m.
