The Beard Center on Aging partners with the local Alzheimer's Association on a number of initiatives to increase understanding of Alzheimer's disease and offer support for caregivers and others who are impacted by the disease.
Joint initiatives include:
- "Memory University" educational series about Alzheimer's disease and caregiving.
- Beard Center Director serves on the advisory board for the Alzheimer's Association
- Lynchburg College provides volunteers for Alzheimer's Association programs including the annual memory walk
- Co-sponsorship of the annual Alzheimer's Memory Walk Kick-Off event with the Bonner's Leadership Program, SERVE, and the Adult Care Center of Central Virginia
