
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College field hockey team fought back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to score a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon against Washington & lee University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Washington & Lee’s Sallie Armstrong put the Generals on the board at 13:16 with an unassisted breakaway goal. Hornet junior attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored from Signey Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) soon after intermission, and sister Jenny Weir ((Richmond, VA/James River) posted the deciding goal on an assist from Caitlin Gibb (North East, MD/Rising Sun) after a penalty corner at the 56:17 mark.
Caroline Habliston kept the Generals (1-5/0-1 ODAC) in the game with eight saves, as Lynchburg out-shot it guests 23-5. LC also held a 10-2 edge in penalty corners.
The Hornets (5-4/1-1 ODAC) travel to Sweet Briar College Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
