Volleyball Loses to Centre in Five, Spalding in Four

DANVILLE, KY – The Lynchburg College Volleyball team began play today in the Centre College Classic. LC lost its first match to Centre in five sets and lost the second match to Spalding in four sets.

The first match was a back-and-forth contest, with no team winning two sets in a row.

However, Centre took the match in five sets, winnning 25-22, 23-25, 35-33, 27-25, and 15-6. Michelle Boucher led Lynchburg with 16 kills and two blocks while Ashley Stokes hit eight kills. Kristina Giordano contributed with 35 assists, Elena Kritter and Erin Heffelfinger each had three service aces, and Savannah Tinsley collected 24 digs.

Against Spalding, Lynchburg would breeze to a 25-16 win in the first set, but proceeded to drop the next three sets 25-18, 27-25, and 25-22. Heffelfinger and Kritter posted 11 and nine kills respectively, Giordano dished out 22 assists, and Tinsley tacked on 22 digs.

The Hornets continue play in the Centre College Classic tomorrow, playing Knox at 10 a.m. and Transylvania at 12 p.m.
