            LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women’s soccer team defeated visiting Christopher Newport University 3-0 Friday evening in non-conference action.

Sophomore forward Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) got LC on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal nine minutes in, and Jess Mader (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) added another tally at the 27 minute mark from Lindsay Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon).

The Hornets took the 2-0 advantage into halftime and increased the cushion with a Lady Captain own goal late in the contest.

Lynchburg outshot CNU (0-3) 24-2 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Erin Wojtkun and Dineen Sampson split time in net for Christopher Newport, combining for six saves.

The Hornets (5-0-1) travel across town to Randolph College for their Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
