Dan Wooldridge Press box Dedicated Wednesday

Lynchburg College dedicated the Dan Wooldridge Press box on Wednesday afternoon on Fox Field, home of the Hornet baseball team.  Dr. Kenneth Garren, Lynchburg College President, Dr. Jack Toms, LC director of athletics, Wooldridge and Stuart Fauber, Chair of the Board of Trustees, spoke before the unveiling of the plaque outside the two-level press box. Other renovations to Fox Field include batting cages, relocation of the outfield fence and field regrading.

Wooldridge is a member of the Sports Hall at Lynchburg College, where he starred in basketball, baseball and soccer. He played minor league baseball with the Pittsburg Pirates organization. Wooldridge began officiating college basketball in 1963 and continued for 23 years in a vast variety of positions and settings. He worked 21 years in the ACC as well as other conferences. Retiring from basketball officially in 1986, Wooldridge became Commissioner of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 1976, a post he held until 1997.
