#25 Hornet Men Upend Greensboro 4-1

            LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeated visiting Greensboro College 4-1 Wednesday night in non-conference play.

            Junior Josh Reed (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) got the 25th-ranked Hornets on the board at 18:34 of the first half with an unassisted goal. Donald Hart III (Springfield, VA/Paul VI) scored from Jared Melot (Reading, PA/Antietam) 15 minutes later and LC netted a goal with five tenths of a second remaining in the half as Pat Brown (Williamsburg, VA/Christchurch) headed in a Stephen Legg (Newport News, VA/Denbigh Baptist) rebound.

            Greensboro got on the scoreboard with 12:23 remaining on the game clock, with Frederik Edeland scoring on an assist from Ben Norman. Reed put the contest out of reach with a late tally from Michael Abbonizio (Maple Glen, PA/Hatboro-Horsham Sr.).  

            Matt Sturdivant (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) played a scoreless 73 minutes in net for LC, stopping two shots. Kurt Gardiner made eight saves for the Pride (2-2-1). Lynchburg out-shot GC 21-12 and Greensboro held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

            The Hornets (5-0) travel to York College for another non-league game Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
