Lynchburg Volleyball Narrowly Loses in Five Sets to Greensboro College

GREENSBORO, NC - The Lynchburg College volleyball team made a valiant effort to force five sets against host Greensboro College to conclude play in the Greensboro Tournament in Greensboro, NC, this weekend.

LC lost the first set 25-23, but rolled to a 25-12 victory in the second set. Greensboro would take the third set by a score of 25-21, however, LC would make comeback in the fourth set to win 28-26 to force a fifth and decisive set. Lynchburg battled the Pride tooth and nail in the final set, but the Pride mustered out a 16-14 victory in the fifth set to win the match.

Freshmen Elena Kritter tallied 17 kills and 12 digs en route to being named to the All-Tournament team. Sophomore Ashley Stokes smashed 14 kills and blocked an astounding eight attack attempts. Freshman Kristina Giordano had 48 assists and three service aces while junior Savannah Tinsley collected 26 digs and three service aces. Junior Chelsea Jones hit 11 kills, freshman Erin Heffelfinger had 10 kills, and sophomore Michelle Boucher posted eight kills.

Lynchburg returns to the court on Tuesday as the face the Quakers of Guilford College to open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play at 6:30 p.m. in Greensboro, NC.
