LC Volleyball Overthrows Oglethorpe 3-1

GREENSBORO, NC - The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated Oglethorpe 16-25, 25-22, 25-21, and 26-24 to go 2-0 on the first dady of play in the Greensboro Tournament in Greensboro, NC.

Freshman Erin Heffelfinger (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) hit a career-high 16 kills for the Hornets and also contributed with eight digs while freshman Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock) smashed home 12 kills and also poured in 18 digs. Junior Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/EC Glass) contributed with 22 digs and freshman Kristina Giordano (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) put together another all-around game, tacking on 33 assists along with four kills and five digs.

Oglethorpe was lead by the outstanding performance of Alison Burt who hammered in 13 kills, 23 assists, and 18 digs. Sara Blair posted 10 kills and 12 digs while Trupti Patel and Hilary Miller had 12 and 17 kills respectively.

Lynchburg (4-2) concludes the Greensboro Tournament on Saturday with games at 2 p.m. against Piedmont and 6 p.m. against host college Greensboro College.
