LC Volleyball Defeats Guilford 3-1

 GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated the Guilford College Quakers 25-22, 26-24, 14-25, and 25-17 to win its first match in the Greensboro Tournament in non-conference play.

 Freshman Erin Heffelfinger (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) hit a game-high 11 kills to lead the Hornet hitters. Freshman Kristina Giordano (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) posted a solid all-around game, tallying 23 assists, six digs, and three service aces while freshman Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock) blasted out nine kills and tacked on 11 digs. Junior Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/EC Glass) contributed with 11 digs and three service aces and junior Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) had six kills and two service aces.

 Anna Miller had 11 kills, 10 digs, and three service aces for the Quakers (2-5) while Shanika Tunnell had eight kills. Taylor Phillips had a game-high 32 assists for Guilford along with 11 digs while Betany Hawks had 15 digs.

 Lynchburg (3-2) plays tonight against Oglethorpe at 8 p.m. and resumes action in the Greensboro Tournament tomorrow with matches at 2 p.m, against Piedmont College and 6 p.m. versus the host school Greensboro College.
