Josh Reed Strong Again as LC Men Defeat Mt. State 5-0
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Junior midfielder Josh Reed (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) followed up a six-point performance Saturday with two goals and an assist Sunday afternoon as the Lynchburg College men’s soccer team defeated Mountain State University (WV) 5-0. The Hornets finish the four-team, two-day Hampden-Sydney Classic with a 2-0 mark.
Reed scored the game’s only goal of the first half on an assist from Ryan Renfro (Forest, VA/Brookville). Reed fed Renfro to give LC a two-point cushion after intermission, and Reed made the score 3-0 on a feed from Jared Melot (Reading, PA/Antietam). Donald Hart III (Springfield, VA/Paul VI) and Daniel Arriola (Fairfax, VA/Fairfax) added scores in the final minutes.
LC (2-0) hosts the four-team Shellenberger Classic next Saturday and Sunday.
