Hornet Harriers Run at Virginia Wesleyan Saturday
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men and women’s cross country teams each finished in second place in the Virginia Wesleyan Invite Saturday morning, as both teams opened their 2008 season.
The men’s team finished a spot behind the host Marlins, posting a score of 64 points over the five-mile course. Sophomore Rich Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) led the Hornets with a time of 28:33, finishing tenth, while little brother Todd Apgar (Somers, NY/Somers) placed 12th with a time of 28:30. Freshman Lawrence Minor (Mineral, VA/Louisa) clocked a time of 28:35 for 13th place, Eric Palmer (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) finished 14th with a 28:36, and Pat Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) also scored with a time of 28:37.
The Hornet women were led by Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW), who finished the 3.75 mile course in 24:53 for 13th place. Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) crossed the line in 25:02 for 15th place, and Megan Donnelly (McLean, VA/McLean) nabbed the 16th spot with a time of 25:11. Freshman Jamie Lull (Providence Forge, VA/New Kent) earned 18th place thanks to a time of 25:13, and teammate Kelly Doescher (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) rounded out the LC scoring with a 20th place finish in 25:16.
LC now turns its attention to the Madison Kiwanis Invitational next Saturday in Hanover, IN. Starting gun is set for 9:30 a.m.
