Hornet Volleyball Wins Season Opener EMU in Three

            HARRISONBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team opened its 2008 season with a 25-16, 25-19, 25-13 non-conference victory over Eastern Mennonite University in the first match at the EMU Tournament.

            Freshman outside hitter Elena Kritter (Culpeper, VA/Rappahannock) opened her collegiate career in impressive fashion, leading the team with seven kills and added 13 digs. Michelle Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk), Ashley Stokes (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) and Erin Heffelfinger (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) each posted five kills, and Stokes had two blocks.

            Kristina Giordano (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) paced LC with 14 assists while Savannah Tinsley (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) contributed 18 digs and six assists.

            Lynchburg (1-0) is slated to play NC Wesleyan tonight at 8 p.m. and has two more matches on Saturday.
