America's Best Colleges 2009

U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges 2009" ranks Lynchburg College in the top tier of southern colleges that offer a full range of undergraduate programs and master's degrees in the "Best Universities - Master's" category.

Lynchburg College moved up 10 positions from 2008 to No. 33 in the southern category, which ranks only 59 schools in the south as top-tier schools. Of the 59 schools in the southern category, nine are Virginia schools.

Lynchburg College fared particularly well with a 72 percent freshman retention rate, 12-1 student-faculty ratio, 37 percent rate of freshmen in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating class, and 69 percent admissions acceptance rate.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Lynchburg College has been ranked as a top-tier master's degree institution. The 265 institutions in the top tiers are ranked within four geographic areas: North, South, Midwest, and West. A total of 572 institutions are listed in all tiers of the Best Universities - Master's category. The rankings can be viewed at www.usnews.com.
